Growing up on the outskirts of Chicago did not provide access to outdoor spaces. Fortunately, an annual summer vacation to my grandmothers house in central Pennsylvania allowed me to experience the natural world enough to develop a love for the outdoors. This blossomed into afternoons spent fishing after elementary school and the production of my first YouTube channel (Midwesternanglers, circa 2009). At a very young age my friends and I were producing content and receiving sponsorships. Later on in high school my passion for fishing and Youtube would dim, only to be reignited full force again in college. I am incredibly fortunate to work in the outdoor spaces that changed my life forever as a kid. With this great fortune, I have established a personal mission statement: create content that will inspire others to connect with the natural world.
Experience.
Introduce.
Preserve.
I make an effort to ensure that I am truly experiencing everything that I do. What I mean by this is that walking through everyday life can seem dull but this can be fixed by allowing yourself to be amazed at even the little things. This journalistic concept has carried over to benefit my personal life.
Introducing someones story is some of the most rewarding work I have ever done. It takes a lot of trust to portray someones message the exact way in which they would.
After being involved in a story that invokes a feeling of care, the natural next step is a feeling of preservation. The desire to protect a culture, to save an eco-system, to build and maintain a community. These are all real feelings I have experienced while immersing myself into the stories I choose to share.
